I am a Post-Doctoral Research Associate investigating novel soft robotic technologies to enhance robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery and medical imaging. I received my PhD in Robotics from King’s College London in 2017. I also hold a MScEng in Electrical and Automation Engineering and a BSE in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florence in Italy which I received in 2010 and 2013 respectively.
My main research interest is soft robotics and its application in surgical, industrial and rehabilitation robotics, with particular focus on the creation of stiffness controllable systems for a safer human-robot interaction. I am also interested in tactile sensing for robotics applications and underwater robotics. During my research activity I have worked as Research Assistant in several projects funded by the European Commission, such as the FP7 SQUIRREL, the FP7 STIFF-FLOP and the H2020 FourByThree projects.
